In 2022 there was $11 Billion dollars of art sold at auction and only 9.3% ($1 Billion) was created by women artists. There is a significant career penalty in the art world for being a woman, and that is compounded when she becomes a mother.
Interlude is the first-of-its-kind residency in the Hudson Valley specifically designed for working artists who are parents. Our story follows two artists in residence and illuminates how creativity can thrive—not despite parenthood, but because of it. In partnership with Interlude, viewers develop a deeper understanding of how supporting mother artists is critical to the wider discussion on equity in the arts.
To the parent-artists trusting this process: thank you for inviting me into your practice, your home, and your making.
